Pockets of Hope is Moving!
This is not the first time the community dinner is popularly known as “Pockets of Hope” has had a change of venue. The community dinner has now been running for just over three years and started at Te Oro when the music and arts centre first opened three years back. Then the dinner moved just next door to the Ruapotaka Marae. In early 2017 we moved back to Te Oro. This time it’s a bigger move all the way to Panmure.
The important thing for HEART is to create spaces where the community can gather, connect and have fun together. Theresa Holmes, the centre manager at Panmure Community Hall has strong relationships with young people, and she believes the partnership will be beneficial for both Pockets of Hope and for young people, as they will be able to contribute to the community by getting involved with the dinners. We look forward to seeing you there!
We are also currently looking for resources and partnerships to strengthen The Pockets of Hope community dinner. Up until mid-last year, we had a small amount of funding to pay two people to look after Pockets of Hope. However, that funding has now finished and Roi and Nandita are looking after the dinners on top of their normal workload, and with a much smaller food budget. If you can help, or know people who can, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and let us know, we’d love to hear from you!
