Te Taumata o HEART

The Taumata of HEART is a group of community members, they are all Change Agents and some were also members of the HEART Advisory Group. They have been a part of the creation and development of HEART since the very beginning. They all have a deep vested interest in the continuing success of HEART. Being part of HEART has changed their lives.

In 2022, the active Taumata were Roxanne Adams, Sirikit Diaz, Jo Flavell, Philippa Holmes, Theresa Holmes, Tess Liew, Nandita Mathur, Tara Moala, Margaret Ngapera, Carla Perese, Rebecca Ruwhiu-Collins, Tyrone Tangata-Makiri and Cristy Trewartha.

The Taumata aspires to guide HEART to create more impact than ever before. They will do this by…

  • Holding the kaitiaki of HEART - guardianship of the essence of HEART, ensuring mana is maintained, staying true to the reason the HEART Movement was created.

  • Continuing to design the HEART process - learning from the ideas which go through the process, honouring the Change Agents who bring those to the process, making changes which streamline and support even more growth.

  • Tautoko HEART activities - be active and present in the mahi that is taking place under the name of the HEART Movement, create tangible support through their networks.

  • Guiding activities towards our Theory of Change - make clear connections if they have not already been made, seek to deepen the impact of activities with their knowledge of what works.

HEART Project Fund

Funding has been obtained by Rākau Tautoko from the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board to support the HEART Movement, which we are calling the HEART Project Fund. This funding will allow us to allocate up to $1000 to Change Agent ideas, per bi-monthly hui five times (at this stage). Kaitiaki of the fund will make decisions on allocations, and the hui and ideas will be supported by the Secretary.

To be clear,

  • The Taumata will continue to be a group of people "who are deeply committed and invested in the success of the HEART Movement".

  • The HEART Project Fund will be governed by "Kaitiaki".
