Torrington BBQ

Come Rain, Thunder and More Rain they never gave up.

On Saturday morning Torrington Street and Skippy Lane were embraced, welcomed and brightened by the downpour of heavy rain and the colourful heart BBQ. The neighbourhood spirit was not dampened at all by this.

The few families that braved the weather shared beautiful conversations and cheerful attitudes and on top of that a hearty sausage sizzle. Most of the families that turned up did not hear or know much about the Heart Movement but was enlightened and empowered by the messages that were shared by Roi Boyd and the Heart team. This only goes to show that we still need more outreach as Heart Change Agents.

It was great and pleasing to see the children and their parents that turned up enjoy the neighbourhood company, korero and kai. “We must do another one of these BBQ’s said a mum, yes echoed by the rest”. It is nice what the HEART team is doing. The message to take home was “what little change can you do in your own home and family?”

A big Thank You and Aroha goes out to Teremoana Teura, her brother Taiti and the neighbours for making this event happen. They were awesome in their delivery of the flyers and the words of encouragement. Well done guys. Thank You goes out to Tara and the children that came from the other side of GI to support this gathering.

Finally, a massive Thank You to all the families that came and the food and drink contributions that you gave. That was really touching to see your spirit of giving without being asked and you gave from your Heart. God Bless everyone.
